I am trying to find a way to populate cells in an Excel spread sheet (preferably without opening it - the operating system may not exist) using data from an SQL table/query in Visual Web Developer 2008 Express. I then need to import the value of other cells in the same xls into another table in SQL/VWD.
Please help

How would you propose doing that?  That is like baking a cake without opening the oven door.  Unless you are a magician virtually impossible.

>>the operating system may not exist<<
Surely you do not mean the "operating system"?

I would suggest you brush up on your SSIS skils in order to extract data to and from SQL Server/Excel.
