executeandwait function for FPC

Does anybody know if there exists an 'executeandwait' function written for FreePascalCompiler? For Delphi I found several of these functions on the internet, for FPC none.

It is needed to execute another program in batch mode while running my FPC-written program.

here is the tutorial on it: http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Executing_External_Programs (you will use the TProcess approach and use poWaitOnExit )
