My father got a new computer. Yesterday before the system was turned on, I noticed the red light on the optical mouse was shining. And a green light on the keyboard was lit. We went online and when thru we did a proper shutdown. The mouse light stayed on but we saw no green lights on the keyboard.<br />
I have used his old computer many times, no keyboard or mouse lights on. <br />

His new system has Vista if that is the issue. The only other change to his new system from his old was more HD space, more RAM and a faster processor.<br />
