Joomla 1.5 Need Calendar extension that works well with this

Have any of you used Joomla 1.5 and gotten a free calender program that works well with it?  If so could you tell me how to get it and install it and make it useful on my site?

Thanks, Pat

Jevents:

The best calendar for Joomla is the sub component of Jevents, its is by far the best and comes with quite a few added benefits including language translations and modules such as the mini-calendar which fits nicely into either left of right modules positions, and cn if required be linked to specific categories of event as user defined.

GCalendar:

Another solid choice but not as many addons as Jevents, very functional and well tested, I believe this component is a lot older so the developement will be better supported.

My last component is the EventList Calendar Module Q:

I personally found this little addon a bit of a pain to input as per a previous project and gave up purely on time restrictions however it is a pretty calendar so worth a look if you only require a calendar with no additional functionality.

Comes with support forum for mods etc!

All three off these are 1.5 native components so you'll not have to have legacy enabled for them to work, have fun,

Installation occurs using the same method as all components:

From the control panel open Extensions --> Install/uninstall

Browse to the software located on the desktop or another location, click upload and install that's it, customise the component as required by visiting:

Components --> Component name.

I did the Install as you said to do it quite some time ago.   I am using Joomla 1.5.7  and I don't see a Components, JEvents.  There is a Extensions, Plugin Manager, Search - Events for Joomla 1.5

Job is not done until I can get it to show up on my website and that is the part I am not sure how to do.

I am a real newbie at Joomla, so basic instructions would be helpful.  Thanks, Pat

Getting this to show on your site is done as follows:

1. Goto:

Menu's --> Main Menu.

select new ( top right of the manager)

Select Jevents from the list, Add a menu title, leave the alias as Joomla will create this for you. Select the menu you wish Jevents to go under or leave it on Home/Top if you want it to be at the top of the menu tree, save and review by using the preview button.

Edit as required if not happy by changing the parameters.

Did some reading on the JEvents site and figured out that I have to have my site in Joomla 1.5 Legacy mode.  I am not in Legacy mode.  If I have them put me in Legacy mode, do I loose all my work?

If I can get into Legacy mode I will try what you explained above.

Thanks, Pat

Legacy will cause no problems at all, I actually activate this as a matter of course in all of my designs as generally most extension require this to be activated, well the good ones anyway:

To activate Legacy simply goto:

Extensions --> Plugin Manager -->

Legacy is usually on page two!

Click the red cross to enable, once done you should notice the difference top right of page should state Legacy 1.0.

Legacy is set but when I try what you put above all I see in the list is shown in the file I have attached, and JEvents is not one of them.  Is it supposed to be in the list I attached?

Thanks, Pat

Are you still saying that the component does not show on the front end?

PatKungAuthor Commented:
No it doesn't show anywhere.  You said to choose it from the menu item list.  I took a snapshot of it and attached it as a file.  It doesn't show to choose it.  Did you look at the snapshot of my menu item list?

Thanks, Pat

Strange, are you sure that you installed Jevents correctly?

Please see my screen shot and notice the list of installed components including Jevents, usually it is a simple matter of clicking the component name and that is pretty much it!

If you'll allow me to take a look, create a new admin with password and the url and send it to:

support (@) wickedpassion.net

Then delete after completion. Please note I have done this kind of thing for a number of EE users and treat all clients details in the strictest of confidence and can be trusted 100%, however I will of course understand completely if you choose not to allow me access!

Pat I was thinking, during your Joomla training (for the want of a better word!!) it may help you to view some of my other responses as the majority of my answers are Joomla based. If you click on my profile and then select follow it will allow you to follow my answers to questions.

But don't stop emailing me with questions though,
