How can you find out if someone is using any type of messenger on their pc without getting on to their pc?

looking at the log on the router or setting up a proxy.
or using pstools to se what process is running on their computer.
all of which presume that you are domain/network admin and are allowed to do it.

I found out.
Microsoft System Information actually can connect to remote computers and I was able to view running tasks.
