i hope you didn't pay for this template.
if you did go back to the ppl you bought it from and either demand a refund or some support.
it's going to require alot of work to make it work, unless there's something hiding there that i don't see.

firstly all the buttons are the same instance with the textfield picking up item1 - hence that all say Home.
secondly the on release code has been placed on the first frame of the clip and then its tweened, then on the last frame there's no code on it.

Thanks for the comment. I did see the textfield picking up item1 but didn't know exactly how to correct any of this information. the only solution for me is to figure this out. Should i ask another question on this or add more points?

u don't have to add more points but its alot of work. and if you're a beginner even more so.
it's interesting i've never seen someone load variables from an html file before.

a hack kind of fix for the onrelease
if you see the code on the first frame of the clips - if you move it to the last frame where the tween finishes, that works.
then what you can do is duplicate that current movieclip just copy it x amount of times in the library and give each one a new text variable item1 item2 etc or whatever they were called.that way each button should show its own correct label.

Is there a link to some kind of tutorial to show me how to do this? It's really one of those things where i can't go backwards. I have to work it out until there is a solution.

the moving of the code. simply cut the code out of the frame and put it in the last frame where that item is

duplicate the movieclip.
right click in library, say duplicate, give it a new instance name. do this x amount of times for how many buttons you need.
then go into the file select the second items, click Swap on the properties window and swap it out for one of the new ones you've duplicated. keep doing this for all of them so that you have unique instances for each one.
make sure if there's mulitple frames that you do it at each frame.
then open each clip and change the item1 (or whatever it was) the variable field on the buttons to item1, item2 etc according to your variables in the html.

I was able to get the text right for the buttons doing with you suggested, but still having problems with making the buttons work correctly. I know the pages or correct because when i changed the following line it brought up the exhibition button hightlighted but still with the wrong page, but when i click the privacy button at the bottom of the page and then clicked the x button on that page the exhibition page finally showed up.  I just don't know where to put the code or even what the code should be. Please Help.

_root.link = 3;
this[("item" + _root.link)].gotoAndPlay("s1");

i'm not sure what you're refering to when you say you're clicking on the privacy button blah blah.
i'm assuming you're refering to the top navigations.

if you open the file and move along until you see the movieclip with the Home button (Symbol 25) - double click that you see a bunch of frame tweens.
if you look at Level 1 Layer, first frame, click on the home movieclip, open the actions panel you'll see a bunch of code there yes.
that on(Release) code needs to be on the final frame of the animation. so go to the end of that frame animation for that object and stick the code on the instance there. then do the same for all the others.
that should then pick up the links from the html.
