Problem between Word and HP Universal Print Driver PCL 6
We recenlty upgraded servers here and the vendor installed a new print driver - HP Universal Print Driver PCL 6 - for our HP 4100dtn printers. This driver is pretty different from our last one but I was able to make most changes simply by adding custom printing shortcuts in the printer prefereces. These work for our practice management software however Word seems to have a problem with them.
If we create/open a letter in Word and print an envelope FIRST using Envelopes and Labels, the envelope pulls from the envelope feeder. However, once we use the printing shortcuts to print the letter on letterhead, Envelopes and Labels in Word defaults to Tray 1 and a manual feed. The only way to change it back is to close Word and re-open it.
Right now they are working around it by using Page Setup in Word every time instead of the printing shortcuts but this is quite a few more steps....any ideas out there?

Can you clarify exactly what you mean by using "printing shortcuts" please?

When you right click the printer and select Printing Preferences, there is a tab called Printing Shortcuts. There are two default entries - Factory Defaults, and User Guide Print Settings. On the right are options such as paper size, tray, single or double-sided and you can select these and save custom shortcuts. I have tried to use these but it "appears" that once you choose a shortcut it continues to default to that and that application choices and settings do not always override this as I believe it is supposed to...
I am really struggling with this printer driver change. I had everything tweaked just so so that everything printed from the appropriate tray in the appropriate manner. I tried to rollback the driver but nothing worked the same :)
Any help or insight you can offer would be greatly appreciated!
