How do disable arrow (cursor) keys in Windows XP

I have a laptop with the cursor keys very close to the shift key and enter key.  When I am typing I constantly hit cursor keys inadvertantly because of the compressed keyboard layout.  I would prefer to be able to just disable these keys.  How can I best do this?

Hi,

first, you should go to Control Panel > Keyboard in order to check whether your keyboard driver already includes something like keyboad mapping or editing the keyboard layout.
If you don't find such an option, you will have to use external programmes to achieve what you want. Here are a few:

If you feel comfortable editing the registry, you could forego the above applications and remap the keyboard scancode yourself, following the MS instructions given here:

Good luck.
