Quicken will not print checks to my hp printer with Windows Vista.

When I try to print my checks or register from Quicken 2006, the printer turns on but only a blank piece of paper is printed.  I can print to this printer from any other program.  I have tried everything I've found online - reinstalling the printer and Quicken.  Emulating the printer.  Nothing seems to work.  I can print to Adobe Reader using a free program called pdf995 and the check information shows up, but it won't print on my check paper correctly - the date and check amount aren't in the right place.

How can I fix this problem and get back to work?  Thanks, lor2rain

You are not the only one with the issue, seems to effect many.. here is what worked for one person and the thread it came from: It says 64bit vista but it is happing on all versions.

From the hundreds of threads both here and other support sites, I can see thousands of unhappy customers that cannot print from Quicken. I was one until today.

Here is what HP support helped me with to get my USB connected HP Photosmart C7820 to work along with some background. They clearly said this is not an HP problem, it is with Quicken. It was generous for HP to help with the problem to maintain satisfied customers. Intuit - you need to pay attention to this customer support strategy, as you are fully lacking in this department.

- I have no problems with the C7820 in any application, other than Quicken. In fact, I really like the printer.
- I am using Windows Vista 64, and Quicken H&B 2008.
- I have used Quicken for over a decade and am really surprised by the lack of interest the Intuit has with this problem, that is clearly is problem with Quicken, not HP.

- Go to Control Panel, add a new printer selecting HP Deskjet 990c.
- I selected the same USB port as the c7820 is connected to.
- Under advanced Tab, select Print Directly to the printer.
- In Quicken, under File > Printer setup, select the new printer. (To remind me, I had named this printer Quicken - HP Deskjet 990c, but this is not important to the function).

These printer settings worked for me.

Good luck!

This was such good insight, but it didn't work.  I did notice one thing, though.  Even though the HP printer is attached to a USB port, in Quicken the only choices are the printer on something called an NE0 port.  Could that be the problem.  And if so, how do you change that choice in Quicken?  When I look at the Printer properties in the control panel it doesn't show NE0 at all.  lor2rain

Even though my problem wasn't fixed.  It wasn't because you didn't try.  t's because Quicken didn't!  Thank you for all your input.  It really helped me narrow down the problem.  The problem is still there, but I have hope that Quicken will find a fix.  lor2rain
