Changing directory services restore mode password

I need to restore active directory and the password for directory services restore mode is 'blank'.  I am using backup exec for backups but it does not support blank passwords for user accounts.  Is there anyway to change the directory services password or get around the backup exec password problem?

don't forget to use ntdsutil authoritative restore after you've restored the AD Database (still in w2k3 ad recovery modus, before you reboot again), otherwise your restore will get overwritten by any other dc in your domain (provided there are such)

I also read you can't perform these steps when you are booted into DSRM.  I can only boot into the DSRM mode

RishMaster, (really more for anyone else who experiences this because this post is so old) To reset the password you can not be in DSRM mode.
