Vaio SZ laptop mouse got inverted/reversed

Hello all,

Difficult question...

I got a Vaio VGN-SZ340P laptop that i bought about a year ago. 1 Month ago, touchpad mouse got 'inverted' (when i move it to right - it goes left, and opposite..). It seems like it's a common issue with these Vaio SZ ultra-light laptops...

Reinstalling mouse driver didn't help. If i uninstall Sony touchpad driver, mouse works normally again, but once i restart the computer - it reverts again.

Any ideas?

Thank You!

Thanks, looks interesting. This is a more involved approach though, i'll try it if my current solution will fail.

I don't believe that the problem is a 'mechanical' one and is due to the poorly mounted touchpad. After i applied my solution, i only see 'inversed' mouse before i log-into Windows. After that everything has been working fine for 3 days so far.

What i've done:
Open these files, and change the contents (ex: erase half of the garbled text that's inside and SAVE).

c:\windows\system32\drivers\i8042prt.sys
c:\windows\system32\drivers\mouclass.sys

There was a solution on the web that calls to rename or delete these files, but they're being re-created by the system on the next reboot. If i just edit part the text inside the file - the file stays intact.

Hope this helps for others..

Hi Kaptain,

How would this affect liveCD booted Ubuntu or Ubuntu installed on same machine booted through a separate boot loader.

Since I encountered this on my SZ 650N I tried all sorts of driver swaps/reinstalls; nothing worked.  I installed ubuntu on another partition and still have inverted trackpad issue (usb mouse is working normally).

THis laptop seems to be defective :(
