Word freezes forever with a scren showing "Getting list of available content types..." and a green scroll bar keeps rolling. This happens when a user is trying to save a document (From Word 2007) to SharePoint. This does not happen 100% of times. But is very annoying as the user then needs to cancel, close word and recover the document and re-try to save (which eventually allows to save).

I have seen this occur once because and it had to do with the network card speed. If your network card is set to Auto, try switching it to 100/Full and see if that eliminates the problem.

Thanks liebrand. I'll try this on one computer first to see if that solves the problem. But do you know why the link speed may be related to this? I ask because the issue happens very randomly, and most of the time I am able to save documents. It is just for those random few times causing grief to the users.

Tried the suggested solution by liebrand on several computers, but issue still persists. Any more ideas?

Can you describe your environment/setup a little more for me and othe experts here. For example, client OSs, version/build number of SharePoint, NTLM or Kerberos, etc.

Thanks

Unable to solve. MS support informed this is a known issue, and there is a hotfix planned to released in February 2009.
