In One of my exchange server (standard edition) due to mass mailbox move, i have did Offline defrag after the offline defrag , i found drastical reduce of size in Edb butnot even 100Mb in STM. after the activity, i have started the online full backup which is getting failed wiht the event ESE 478.

Information Store (6212) The streaming page read from the file "E:\EXCHSRVR\SG1\G_SG1_DB1.STM" at offset 655360 (0x00000000000a0000) for 496 (0x000001f0) bytes failed verification due to a page checksum mismatch. The expected checksum was 3584884710 (0x00000000d5acffe6) and the actual checksum was 2309737967 (0x0000000089abcdef). The read operation will fail with error -613 (0xfffffd9b). If this condition persists then please restore the database from a previous backup.

since my restore will happen through WAN lilnk it will take 2 days for me restore the database. do we have any other way to resolve this issue.

Try an Integ Check on the STM file.
The ESEUTIL tool in Exchange 2000/2003 includes a /K switch that you can use to verify the page-level integrity of the information store databases. You can use ISINTEG as well.
These are found in the Bin directory in the exchsrvr directory.

See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/192185 on how to use Eseutil.
