Apple OWA Authentication

I am new to the Apple world. II just recently created Open Directory accounts for my users. My users  want to access their email via Outlook Web Access on Apple laptops. They are able to access the email via OWA when  logged into the local computer, but when my users log into their Open Directory accounts they are unable to authenticateto their OWA email accounts. It seems that OWA is looking for a proxy server to authenticate but I don't use a proxy server. Why can they access email via OWA when not logged into the Open Directory, but when in Open Directory they have issues. I am ready to give up on Apple. There is no problem with my Windows Domain users logging into their OWA accounts. HELP!!!!!!!

I don't have any web restrictions. We are running OWA/Exchange 2003. The clients are having the problem with both Safari and Mozilla.
