Does anyone use Altiris Recovery Solution and have a way to fix the mess?

We are using Altiris Recovery Solution 6.0, and we hate it, but there seem to be very few Enterprise desktop backup alternatives. We tried Netbackup DLO, but the backup speeds were too slow and found that it locked Outlook out sometimes while backing up the PST's.
Our problem: Altiris is so inconsistent. It will show 638 clients under clients, then 550 users under users, then under reports for all clients it may show 600 clients. Then when you mark clients for deletes they don't delete after running the delete marked items jobs. 20% of our clients say they're backing up correctly, but then when someone crashes we look and no data is there. Others it will say they aren't backing up, but they do have data.
We logged a ticket with Altiris for which we were paying $10K / year in support for. After 6 months of emails back and forth and them trying things, nothing ever worked. We finally just gave up and told them to forget it, and started looking at other options, for which we've found nothing suitable.
Now I'm looking into folder redirection, but was just curious if anyone out there with Altiris RS had the same issues and maybe a solution for getting things right? It was great when it was HP Autobackup and Previo, but once Altiris got a hold of it the product fell apart.
