Corrupt driver prevents vista from booting

I have an error starting up Vista Home Premium.  It says that I have a corrupt or missing driver at \Windows\system32\drivers\wdf0100.sys

with an error code 0xc00000e9

How can I repair this file?

I have inserted the Vista disk and it says that it cannot automatically repair the problem, and it apparently does not make restore points automatically like XP.

Hi, have you tried booting into 'safe mode' ?  and then re-installing the driver ?
(press <F8> at the start up and choose safe mode)

I think its the  Logitech mouse driver.
in safe mode - control panel - un-install the logitech mouse software
or
re-install the logitech drivers using there disc

I have tried to start in safe mode.  It gives me the same error as before.  I tried to run sfc from the command prompt in the repair window, but it says "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation."   Also, this is a sony laptop.  It doesnot have a logitech mouse installed.

I went into command prompt and deleted the file, I had read in several forums that this might solve the problem, but now I get a new file that is corrupt.
Windows\System32\Drivers\volmgrx.sys

the sony comes with a restore system?
I would sugest you do a system restore using the installation disc
save you data (documents, pictures etc...) and re-install
