Just upgraded to Outlook 2007, question on read mail

We previously had Outlook 2000 where I work and we ungraded our Exchange and clients to Outlook 2007 this past weekend.
In outlook 2000, I use to have the preview pane turned on and I had it configured so that the message was not marked "read" until I actually double clicked and opened it.  If I just browsed it by reading it in the preview pane, it didn't open.  I can't see to recreate that effect in Outlook 2007, is there something I am missing somewhere?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Try this:

Tools > Options > Other Tab > "Reading Pane..." button
Uncheck "Mark Item as read when viewed in Reading Pane" and "Mark Item as read when selection changes"

This seemed to get the desired result.

All those options are greyed out on mine.  IT said something about "group policy" prohibits?  I don't know what that means, but is there any other way to achieve it?  Thanks

Hi - speak to your Network Admins to see if this setting is being handled by Group Policy, and if they can either change it for you, or allow you to make this edit.
