Alternatives for JD Edwards AS/400

A company is currently using JD Edwards AS/400 for all their inventory and financial data, but they want to explore other options. They are interested in a customized Crystal Reports solution or advise on an alternative package that may already exist.  Any Ideas?

Could you provide more information? It is a bit confusing. JD Edwards is an ERP application that does do inventory and financial data but Crystal Reports is a reporting tool would go against JDA. Are you looking at BOE for a metadata type service? As far as reporting the selection are limited. Depending on who you talk to there are 4 major players-
Microstrategy - Best know for their ablity to do stats analsys for the retail market.
Brio (Hyperion) - IMO a watered down version of BOE but still uses Crystal Engine
Cognos - Probably the biggest rival to BOE. They can do similar stuff that BOE does but does not have the full breth of BOE (which is quiet extensive)
BOE - IMO the best all around solution with Web Intelligence, Desk Intelligence, Crystal Report, Performance Manager, Dashboard, Widgets, Data Cleaners, Modeling tools, ETL tools, and many other features.

You will notice in the imagine below the comparison among the suites. This is an older analsys Business Object and Crystal are now one company and have been for a couple of years.

ASKER

Sorry for the confusion.  The company wants to replace the JD Edwards AS400 with an alternative software solution and use Crystal Reports for reporting.  Hope this makes sense.
