Hello Everyone,

I'm working on a web page that shows up fine in Firefox, yet when I test it in Internet Explorer I get â¬" showing up for ' and I get  showing up in random places.  I typically use Firefox since it plays much nicer than Microsoft's Internet Explorer, but I can't rely on everyone who views my pages to do the same.  Does anyone have any ideas on what I need to do to make these characters go away in my web page when it is displayed on Internet Explorer? I'm using Dreaweaver CS3 to make my edits.

Thank you in Advance for your help with this. It's been really frustrating.

Try the following steps while viewing your web page in IE:

1. Click on "View" on the menu
2. Go to "Encoding"
3. Click on Unicode (UTF-8)

If IE now displays your web page correctly add/update the following meta tag in the <head></head> section of your web page:

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;charset=UTF-8" />

Open in new window

Hello everyone,

I figured it out. I had another page that was also having similar problems. I found a page on the internet that was displaying special characters correctly and looked to see what the html had that mine didn't have. I found that by using a this meta tag:

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />

I am able to get rid of any unwanted characters that are showing up in Internet Explorer.

So no need for help on this one. Thank you anyway for reading this and you consideration.
