Magnavox DVD/CD Player will not properly play back movies on DVD +R media
Hi Everyone;
Recently, I purchased a Magnavox DVD/CD Player which is DVD-R/RW compatiable. The model number of this unit is RDP100MW8B. The serial number is R31728107. Interestingly, this unit will play back commercial DVD just fine. However, it does not play back any of my family movies on DVD +R. While the exterior box does indicate this unit is DVD-R/-RW compatiable, I am wondering if it is +R compatiable. I am under the impression here it is not compatable with this format. Honestly, I did not think there was enough differences between -R and +R recordable media to make any difference to a playback unit, but, perhaps I am wrong here.
In closing, I look forward to hearing back from everyone about this player. Basically, I am needing to know if it is DVD +R compatiable.

A search of the model number you supplied gave no results on Magnavox.com. It also came up with no results on Google. Did you make a typo?

I cross referenced the model and serial numbers given for possible typing errors. They do match what is in the box which contained the DVD/CD playback unit.

Thank you for your input and research into this matter. I went back to the retail store I purchased the Magnavox DVD/CD player to determine if they have a player which supports playback of both formats, +R and -R, and they did have such a unit. It is a combo unit which playbacks VHS media in addition to commercial DVD's along with special DVD formats like +R/-R and +RW/-RW. To make a long story short, I went ahead and purchased this unit. Instead of returning the one which does not support the +R formats, I will give it away as a XMas present.
