SMC.EXE - Application Error at Windows Logon Screen - Symantec Endpoint
We have about 50 users on our network. About 6 of them have been receiving an SMC.EXE - Application Error each morning when they come in. All of our users leave their computers running overnight, but logged out. They are a combination of Windows XPP SP2 and SP3.
We are running Symantec Endpoint client. How can we resolve this error? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Those are pretty generic events, I am afraid that doesn't help much.
As mentioned earlier are there any VPN clients installed?

VPN software is not installed on those units.
Sorry I have no other suggestions, perhaps others will. If you have a Symantec support contact it might be worth contacting them, though I find they are seldom much help.

There are frequent reports of SMC conflicting with VPN client software such as CheckPoint, SafeNet, and others. Any chance there is a VPN client installed on these machines.
Also are you able to verify it is a legitimate SMC file? There are a couple of viruses that disguise themselves as smc.exe
