Install Cognos 8 in a new directory (with differnt ports), and create a new content store for it.  Do a content store deployment from your Reportnet system, and import that into your new Cognos 8 system.  Open the FM models in Cognos 8, validate and republish them.  Then fix all the things that probably didn't upgrade the way you expected.

There is a program you can download from cognos called "Upgrade manager" which will compare the report outputs from the two environments and advise you as to which ones upgraded correclty.

Depending on your system, this upgrade could be dead simple, but usually there will be certain types of reports that just won't work the way you expect.  That's because Cognos 8 has a lot more functionality in it, and so has to be a lot pickier about how certain tasks are performed.  Reportnet just didn't care.

There are a number of proven practice documents that cover this:

Check the datsource connection properties.  Looks like someone entered a collation sequence.  reprotnet would have effectievely ignored it, but Cognos 8 will actually try to use it, which you probably dont' want.

Exactly how many different issues are you going to try to cram into one question?

So let me get this straight.  The new system was up and running fine, no errors. Then you imported the old content store, and the system still worked fine but you couldn't run certain reports. Then you rebooted, and you're getting this now?  There's something missing here.  Open Cognos Configuration ,and test the configuration.
