Getting exclusion filters to work on r12

I'm using Arcserve r12 for backups and I have set exclusions on serveral servers.  However when I do exclude and something like c:\Documents and Settings then add it to exclude, after the job finishes I still see incompletes and network sharing violations.  I assume this means the filter didn't actually work.  I have wondered if there is something set up somewhere in the options that is nulling out this exclude, but I'm not sure if that's the case or not.  Is there a case sensitive issue or something simple I'm missing, because the exclude will work on one server but not the next and they are all set up the exact same way.

After talking to CA support who weren't exactly helpful I've figured why some work and others don't.  If you have network drives then the path needs to be \\ but if it's a local windows system you just put c:\ whatever you like.  So for anyone else if you have both that's the key to getting the exclusions to work.
