How to handle editing/inserting with a gridview in a formview

I;ve got to display orders details and order items on a vb webpage.  It looks like the best way of showing this in aspx is to have a formview showing the Order details with a embeded griview showing order items.

I set this up with two sql datasources and I can show data fine. However, I', hjaving difficulty handling edits/inserts with this setup.  When I update the form, the updates in the gridview disapear, and vis-versa.

Has anybody got any code sample for this?  It's a very common thing in access (form/sub-form) but I cant find anything miuch for aspx!

Hi CodeCruiser,

Not relevant - Doesnt provide any help, it's just a user asking for a similar (but not the same) thing

Not relevant - This is about VB winforms.  I need the info for a webapp (as noted in question)

Not relevant - about building a hierarchical master/detail grid.

Not relevant - About binding two grids.

Not relevant - About a grid master and a details view linked to the grid.

This is just stuff that I've dug up on numerous occasions that does't help at all.  Have you read my question?  ;-)

I can see loads on the net about having a grid view and then opening up a detailsview/formview based on selected record.  I know how to do this and use this regularly.

I really need to get this working ASAP, and whilst I appreciate your efforts these non-relevant links arent helping and perhaps stop ofther experts looking as they think we are working ont it.   I've ahd to re-ask this question in another format because my similar question (which you answered using the technique) has stalled  Can I ask you to only give me relevant help.

Many thanks.
John

By the way, this platform is meant to provide either hints or links to resources which may help construct the solution. I hope you are not expecting a visual studio solution uploaded as a zip file.

CodeCruiser, I'm happy and very grateful for relevant Google search results.  If you find any please let me know.

As for coding, I'm looking for whats hopefully a standard code pattern.  Ie. empty code or example as to how to handle a nested gridview inside a formview.

Just so happens that I think I've found what i need doing another search.  Ironic really as the guy has kindly created a complete VS solution.

For reference, and in case someone else browses to this in search of the same thing its
