In Exchange 2007 I wish to change the "Use MAPI rich text format" to never for all contacts.  It seems that unless this is changed the Contacts themselves will not show up in the GAL.

This is in Exchange 2007 SP1 w/ update rollup 4.  We are using a GAL synchronization tool and it seems that all the contacts that are synchronized are set to use MAPI rich text format as shown on the general tab of a contact within the EMC.  When I change the individual contacts to NEVER use the MAPI rich text then they start to show up in the GAL.  I changed the deafault setting in Remote domains to not use MAPI RTF but this does not seem to have set a format for the contacts when they are created.

So, is there a way to set the default setting for Use MAPI rich text format in the general tab for all contacts to Never?

Thanks!!

The only way to automate this is to create a script using the exchange shell command
[PS] C:\Windows\System32>Set-MailContact -Identity "name" -UseMAPIRichTextFormat Never

To get the contact name I'd use the export to csv option then strip out everything but the name and put that into a text file.

Then run a script that says
[PS] C:\Windows\System32>Set-MailContact -Identity %1 -UseMAPIRichTextFormat Never

And use %1 to pull from the text file with the names of the users.  Then have it repeat until it reaches the end of the text file.

It's to bad that you can't use a * for the name to tell it to do everyone.
