Disabling HP Card reader in printer

I would like to disable the card reader in an HP printer.  I have a card reader in the PC and for some reason I can use the reader on the printer (which disappears at times as a drive on "My compter"), but the reader in the PC is not even available.  Is there a way to have the card reader work on the printer for use locally on the mini LCD printer screen and also have the card reader in the PC available for my camera card?  I think the PC is allocating a drive letter for the reader in printer, but not for the PC card reader.

Connect the USB cable to the front port of the HP printer if there is, and that will disable all functionality of the card reader through the computer.

I have no USB port on the front of the printer.  Wondering if there's a way to disable this through Device Manager.  I know both worked when the printer and PC were first installed months ago.

Then, you have to do the harder way to flash the bios for printer. What is your HP printer model?
