Does this DVR have a dvd burner? why not just burn it to a rewritable dvd disc?
Dont think you can transfer it to the USB device as there is noway to move it off the DVR.
To transfer this image off the DVR you need to re capture it .
DVRs have standard RCA output jacks ( red and white for the left and right audio channels and yellow for the video channel) or S-Video jacks that would allow you to transfer the recorded shows from the DVR to your computer or your camcorder.
Play the video and capture it with cam corder. But what is the brand of your camcorder

To see the actual image on your PC you need a PVR that's an interface like a media player but with record features that will capture it then you can upload to whatever,
these bundle with a video capture card or another alternative is to buy a TV  tuner card for your laptop or desktop
