mirrored hard drives

experts i have a new server windows server 2008 installed
os installed on 80 gb
it has 2 -  500 gb sata hard drives "mirrored"
it disk mangement i only see the the 80 gb os hard dirve and one 500 gb hard drive
should i see both 500 gb drives when they are mirrored ???
if so how do i set this up . bios ? and os?

I am assumeing that you have a hardware raid for this mirrroring. If so you OS will only see the drive as one because that is all the information it needs. When you write data to this drive the raid hardware mirrors it over, not the OS.

yes hardware raid , so when i went to disk management the 500 gb data drive was not formatted to accept data , so i formatted the hd to NTFS , so this process will format both 500gb hds??
even though it only shows one ??? i gather the answer is yes but just want to make sure ..

Yes, you are correct. You can also verify this by looking at the raid configuration to see that it is a raid 1 (mirroring) with both drives.

yes i check it is raid 1 , everything is working fine ..
