blackberry goes dark too soon, not backlight

Our blackberry curves go dark after 5 seconds when logging in. Even if we set the backlight time to 2 minutes (the max), the screen at login still goes dark after 5 seconds. Is this just a default, or is there a way to fix it?

No. If the BB is locked the screen dims after 5 seconds, and you can not change it. I opened a ticket w/ RIM about it once.
