When the user is trying to send a new mail, he is getting catastrophic failure message, "Exception from HRESULT:0X8000FFF", When user close the error message box he is able to send the mail. This is happening randomly and mostly happening when user is trying to send mail for the first time after opening outlook. Please advice.

Hi,
It is majorly on the code, some .dll maybe . I will follow this:
  • Run Outlook with /cleanviews switch
  • Reinstall .Net on PC
  • If both do not help, then reinstall Outlook after taking backup of PST/.NK2 files
Thanks

Nitin,

I want to add something to my question. User is viewing outlook through citrix session. And user is using OnContact software. On Citrix server i have renamed users profile. And copied the necessary files from old to new profile which i have created. Outlook was working file without giving "catastrophic failure" error message, but this time Oncontact software was not starting. Added the Oncontact config file from old profile to new profile and now OnContact software is working file but Outlook is showing "catastrophic failure" error. Please suggest.

Thanks
LBGT

Hi,
How does this OnContact software work. Does it attach to Outlook as a Plugin, well then you got to disable it
Cheers

I solved the issue. In outlook , Microsoft word was selected as mail editor. I have unchecked it. And outlook is working fine.

Thanks.
