This is a new laptop and PC from  Dell that both exhibit this error. Occurs when machine is shutting down. Know related to Dr Watson program. Removed the AeDebug registry key. Have removed Dr Watson program but error still occurs.
Machines are fresh images, have not been on net nor have had extra software added yet
Believe a problem in the image, as did restore from image and exactly the same

As shown in my previous comment, you can disable dwwin.exe which is a Dr. Watson error-collector and reporting tool, in your registry like so:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug

or you can download dwwin.exe to try to repair it, here:

http://ausgereifft.architektur.rwth-.../SP1/i368/drw/

Otherwise, try also doing WINDOWS UPDATE from the "TOOLS" option at top of IE menu .

Did you read all of the contents in the thread, for example, Dr. Watson does not work reliably when installed in XP ?
Also <quote>
.. at this line in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug

Do I change the "auto" value from "1" to "0," or do I take out "drwtsn32" as the debugger?
Either way, drwtsnn32 will be disabled. If you think you want to re-enable Dr Watson again, change the value to 0. If you know you will never use Dr. Watson, delete the key.  <unquote>

Yes, Have tried changing the auto value to 0. Have removed the whole reg key, still to no avail. Error message still occurs on shutdown

One option is to accurately record the registry key details, then delete the key and hopefully the problem will be resolved.  In the event that sometime you'll wish to re-use Dr Watson, reinstall the key using your saved details.

Oops, clash of posts!
You may well be correct in stating 'a problem in the image'.

Matter of interest are you running Acrobat 7.0 ?    Cannot really see the connection, but the reason for asking is a link, where it was stated that>

<quote>  Users who have Acrobat 7.0 can follow the instructions on this website...
http://www.allscoop.com/tools/acrord32-exe/

This will fix both of these errors upon shutdown:
dwwin.exe - DLL Initialization Failed
AcroRd32.exe - Application Error

Found the solution on a different post site.
Removed Google desktop program and issue disappears
Pity Dell doesn't have this on their database of fixes....
see http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winxp/t1029715523.

Thanks for your input Jonvee.
