Hi there

Does anyone know how to add email notification on Server 2008 Standard for a Raid 5 Hard Drive Failure ? I have recently setup a server with 3 350 gig with Raid 5, obviously it would be great to have email notification so that if one of the hard drives crash, I can swop it out before further issues.

Looking forward to your response

Hi Jeinnor

Please find a screenshot of the same, I have tried to set a email alert for the directory service, as the disk error would be a windows system event select the windows system and select the appropriate error.

I can simulate a Raid disk error i cant get you that specific error.

Thanks, if I do not have the Directory Service as above, would I need to add before I can add the Task to email me on a hard drive failure?

Hi,

this image was a reference for you not necessary that you should have directory service, i.e was a catageroy that i have shown there,

find this screen shot, which would help you, I have give you the steps on how to do it, i really dont have a tutorial on this, but hope you would be able to work around this task.

you basically need to click on the "attach a task to this event" or "Attach a task to this log" and create a event then, you when before clicking on the finish event check the box to open it for editing and follow the screens and in the last screen seen you can click on the tabs to select your desired windows event and category and mention the Event id
