Determining Data Sources for BO 6.5

I have an installation of BO 6.5.  I am not too familiar with the product.  I was wondering if its possible to either determine the data source that a Universe is using; or whether the Universe can be used as a data provider for another application.  Effectively, I need to extract data from a source that BO uses, and I guess that can be done either by knowing the data source (which I'll need to extract from BO) or by using BO itself as the data provider.

Any thoughts?  Please let me know

My understanding is that BO Universes are proprietary in that they can only be used WITHIN the BO Enterprise applications.

What other application are you trying to query the Universe from...?

THe Universe itself I don't believe can be used by other applications, but the DATABASE on which the Universe is designed against CAN...

A universe is a visual representation of the company's BUSINESS LOGIC...and is based on a DATASOURCE OR DATABASE...

Is there anyway I can get the DB connection string that the Universe is using from somewhere?

Do you NOT have access to the Universe? It is ALL found within the PARAMETERS TAB of the universe configuration.

BO is locked down pretty tight...so unless you have access to BO I don't know of a way to obtain the Connection Info for the Universe....
