Network Analyser (Showing Network performance)

Hello,

I am trying to look for a utility or piece of software which will enable me to identify where problems are on a network - in particular where delays are (even across the internet).

I found PATHPING was useful for this because it measures over time the path between one computer and another and the hops along the way and the time it took for each hope.

I found a utility http://www.pathanalyzer.com/shots.opp which looks ok. Are there any others available or even small free utilities which do the same ?

Thanks,

Hi,

Wireshark is the Industry standard Protocol Analyzer. You can sniff traffic and identify errors.

Incase you are new to wireshark;

Hi,

Thanks for the link I had a look over the software. I am not sure Wireshark can do what im looking to achieve, that being measures over time the path between one computer and another and the hops along the way and the time it took for each hop ?

Hi thanks for the link. Not bad. It would have been better if they had made more of the basic functions useable in the free edition.
