I'm trying to install some security updates using WSUS and i'm getting the following error in the windowsupdate.log file.

"To everyone with this problem there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I have had microsoft support people remotely working on my computer (free of charge). Initially a guy spent two hours on it uninstalling Office, reinstalling it, and then coming up against the same problem.

A second guy, a few days later who knew a bit more about it spent almost two hours today doing a manual uninstall, removing everything to do with Office from all areas of the computer. There is no way I coud have done this without a full list of all the bits that needed removing. I had tried the manual uninstall of office as listed under Microsofts Atricle ID of 928218, but this hadn't resolved my problems.

After doing the manual uninstallation he installed Office 2007 again, and this time all the updates were successfully installed.

It has taken a while, because they start you off with email fixes first, which take time but didn't work. Go through microsoft, its free if the problem is to do with automatic updates."
