I'm trying to reinstall xp on a dell d430 that doesn't have a cdrom drive. I have an extra laptop and a flash drive. Simple solution please.

    The most simple solution would be to purchase/borrow a cd drive - either internal or external. There are other solutions you can do without doing this though.
    One option is to install XP from a flash drive. It is not a very simple process, but it does work. You can get a lot of information form the sticky posts at this forums:

    Check in system partition see if there is recovery partition there? if so, you might need that to reinstall system back to manufacturing date.
