SSRS 2005 - Getting Error -[rsInvalidReportParameterDependency] Forward dependencies are not valid.

I have a summary report that I want to jump to another report based on the selection from the first report.  I setup a parameter for the second report , but when I run either report now I get the foloowing message"[rsInvalidReportParameterDependency] Forward dependencies are not valid."  So basically I have a Summary Report, I want to link from the summary lines to another report that contains the details via a parameter.

The way your question reads is that you have created 2 seperate reports; one to show a summary and another to show details (correct, right?). What have you done on the summary report so far to launch the details report (with parameters)? Have you setup a Hyperlink Action and filled in the Jump to report section? How did you fill in the parameter values?

Yes I set up a hyperlink action to jump to the report, and set the parameter to the field from the summary report.  I have the parameter setup as a query of distinct values.
The error you are getting is kind of strange for this situation. First thing is to make sure that the error is not being caused by something other than the report linking. Can you verify that the summary report works ok on it's own (remove the "Jump to report" linking and run it). Then run the detail report on it's own to make sure it doesn't have any issues. After this we can add the report link back in.

Both reports run fine seperately, I removed the parameter.
When you say "I removed the parameter", what exactly did you do? Did you remove the "Jump to report" link? Did you leave the "Jump to report" link but take out the parameter you had setup to pass to the detail report? Did you remove a parameter from the dataset queries? It's difficult to help troubleshoot something without having a baseline.

The reports should be setup to run individually (ie: as if they were never going to be linked). The detail report should still have a parameter setup that you would fill in manually when the detail report is run on it's own. Is this how they are setup at this point?

Yes the report are set to run individually,  they are not linked and the parameter is only present on the detail report now
Ok. Add the Jump to report hyperlink back with the parameter filled in. Then take a screenshot so I can see how you have it setup. Don't do anything else other than fill in the hyperlink data.

Also, where are you placing the Jump to report link? Is this in a table? What section of the table?

It is on the textbox property for the OperatingSystemVersion from the summary report.

I have it working correctly now.  But now when I choose the OperatingSystemVersion from the summary is passes the parameter, which is what it should do but it has the values on the detail report Collapsed??  I looked at the properties and the Visibility is 'Expanded"??

Also once you select the detail you want the user can not Use the back button to return to summary,  should this be a field on the detail report that has jump to Report set back to the Summary report?

Just to clarify I am very new to Reporting Services and trying to get up to speed quickly,  thanks for all your help thus far.
