cannot add roles 2008

The current role that is installed is IIS, I would like to add one additional role, but "Add roles" is greyed out everywhere, how do I make it so I can add more roles?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

That is a bit strange. What role are you trying to install or are you trying to install an additional feature of IIS?

I am NOT trying to install additional features (that I can do).
I only have the IIS web server (role) currently, and I am trying to add
Network Policy and access

Have you restarted this server yet? There may be an update waiting to be applied. If this does not help could you please attach a screenshot of what is happening.

Thats really strange. I am having a hard time figuring out a solution for you. Do you have powershell installed or can you install it from the features area? If so you may want to try installing it from powershell instead and see if that works. Good luck.

I had no updates waiting to be applied, I found an update that I had to download, it was a server manager update.  Once I installed that I was able to add roles.
