CMOS date run after shutdown and switch off the plug power

When I off the server without off the plug, when re-on back everything is OK.
If I off the server and off the switch of the power cable's plug, when I on back, the CMOS date is running out, it will back to year 2002....etc. What's wrong?

Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

It looks like your CMOS battery may need to be replaced. You should be able to find a replacement battery (i recommend you take your current one with you or at least write down all the information) at a local electronics store if not at your local supermarket.
I hope this helps. Good luck.
