SYN Timeout on smtp relay

I have a server that uses a smtp realy off of our spam filter (a meridius box).  The two boxes used to be in the same DMZ and the relay worked fine.  Well we have now created a higher security DMZ and put this server in that new DMZ, but now the smtp relay will not work, I get this error when I look at the firewall log:

11/4/2008 12:14      Local7.Info      10.0.0.9      Nov 04 2008 08:35:25: %ASA-6-302014: Teardown TCP connection 603029516 for dmz1:172.16.8.56/25 to trebstore:172.18.1.205/3515 duration 0:00:30 bytes 0 SYN Timeout

Can someone help me understand why this is timing out?

Sounds like the relay refusing connection, as the box is now in other network. Maybe the allowed networks are restricted.

It was the box rejecting the connection.
