Where to dispose of an old laptop?

I've got an old laptop that I need to dispose of.  I've heard that laptops contain materials that can be hazerdous to the environment and that you shouldn't just throw one away.  I need to know a place where I can take this laptop to recycle it.  I need a location near zip code 22204.

Hi,

There are many places for you to recycle your old computers and electronics. It really depends on where you live.

Here is a link to help you find where to dispose of your laptop.

I would recommend selling your laptop on eBay for parts.
That way you will not be responsible for disposing it and + you can earn some $$$.

If it's not a complete clunker, there are probably local nonprofit schools that would like it.  Similarly, http://www.cristina.org/ can help some less fortunate person.  Regardless of what you do with it, you probably want to wipe the drive and many places won't want it without windows reinstalled.

Check with your Town / City Hall, many towns / cities have Electronics Recycling days once a month or once every few months, if not they may be able to point you in the right direction.
