I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I've found VMWare ESX to be very picky on network cards, rarely is it compatible with servers that cost sub £1000.

You'll probably find it will install fine but not find any NICs - which nic has it got? There's a NIC compatibility table and you should check it first before wasting a lot of setup time.

I successfully installed on a DL380 G4.  But, it was limited to 32-bit guests.  I was better off running Server 2008 (64-bit), onto which I could install VMWare Server for 32-bit guests.

At least I get one 64-bit server out of that arrangement.
