FTP over SSL query

If using FTPS (i.e. FTP with SSL), do we have to enter

on the FTP client, instead of

in the same way that HTTPS needs an https:// prefix?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Which browser?  Most do not support SSL'ed FTP.

SSL'ed FTP is typically called ftps, sftp is normally used to refer to SSH  FTP, which is not really ftp and no browser I am aware of support SSH FTP.

Secure FX is the client?
I have never used that FTP client.  However with most ftp clients you do not enter a URL, you define "host" and in the host definition you define what type of FTP server (SSH, SSL, or "default") the remote host is.
