Unable to fax certain people

I have a client that is using this device to fax documents. For some reason, they are unable to fax to several companies. It is a very consistent problem. There are several numbers that they can fax to without a problem. However there are also 3 numbers where they can't fax to. The fax machines connect and talk to one another - however halfway through their handshake, the modem noise just hangs and eventually the connection drops. We've already confirmed that these businesses are having no problems on their end. They are able to receive faxes from other sources. As I said, it is a very consistent problem. The client faxes a document to someone every morning and the faxes always goes through to the recipient. However, the client has never been able to send a fax to these 3 numbers. We've already tried a myriad of things already. We've replaced the cord from the fax to the wall, updated the firmware on the device, contacted HP (they were of little help). I was thinking about disabling error correction? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Accepted Solution

Try disabling error correction that was the first thing I thought of when reading your problem.

    Assisted Solution

Ensure your modem is limited to 9600, not auto or a higher number like 115,000. This should avoid the error issue.

The error correction wasn't the problem. HP has recommended that I set the fax back to the factory defaults. You want me to look at the baud rate on the fax? I will check that out next.

Are the three problem sites using the same type of equipment?
I had a problem with one company that could not receive our faxes. They were using an online software program and it had some sort of bug that would not work properly one model of fax machine we had. It worked fine with our older machines and our machines worked fine with everyone else.

Sorry, I was thinking PC fax, rather than fax machine, Unlikely that the baud rate would be incorrect in this situation.

Was there ever a solution on this problem, as I am having the same issue?
