How do I improve download speed?

I downloaded and installed Tomato firmware on my Linksys WRT54GS router. The download speed is now slower than prior to the download.  What settings do I need to adjust?

I'm not familiar with Tornato.  But, DD-WRT is an excellent firmware for Linksys devices...

keamo - Tomato is another firmware based on OpenWRT, just like DD-WRT is (and white russian, and coova, et al).

niarb_innel - enable frame bursts and afterburner... if those options aren't there maybe you used the wrong version, because the WRT54GS (with SpeedBooster) model should have both of those settings available.
