Outlook Sync Folder - Why do items show up here?

Okay, this might be a silly questions but why do items show up in the sync folder?
How can you tell what generated the "sync" issue?
How can I get more information on these Sync Folders and how to be proactive when my user ask me about the items that appear?

Help with my Sync issues....

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If you have things showing up there, you have something broke.  Most of the time those issues are Offline address book.

Can you post an error?

The problem is I don't know how to post the errors.  Is there a log file that I can reference?

Attached is a screen shot of a user that has items show up in his sync folders.

If you open the email in that folder, it should show you that there is a conflict.  Usually happens to people who have mobile phones or PDA's.  You then should be able to select which one you want to keep.  If you dont' care about the items there, just delete them.

Data loss can hit a business in any number of ways. In reality, companies should expect to lose data at some point. The challenge is having a plan to recover from such an event.

Here is my symn folder view.

I too have items showing in the Sync Issues, Conflict folder.  How do I know what to do with these items?  Are they problems whereas I need to do something? That is the question, if we have a outlook/exchange configuration issue then I want to address.

Do you have a data phone or similar device that outlook syncs with?

Usually don't have that many going there.  I have 9 going back 4 years.  (never looked before)

Are these emails showing up in your inbox as well?

We do.  We are using Blackberry devices with a BES server.

That is what is causing the issue.  As long as they are showing up in your inbox, its really not a big deal.  The best way to fix it is to have them hit that little plus sign next to the "Sync Issues" folder, then they won't be able to see it....HA....Its been working for me anyway.

How can I get more information on why they show up in these folders? And maybe what caused them to get flagged.

What I've seen with conflicts, I usualy get an email in my inbox, and it has a header that says there is a conflict.  It will give you details and ask which one you want to keep.  Just a matter of mobile device and Exchange being out of sync.

I've never messed with BB before.  You might try adding this to the BB group here or posting a pointer question there to this question.
