Hard Drive Swap Question

Would there be any problem switching hard drives between a MacBook and a MacBook Pro?

Are there any machine specific files installed with the OS which would make the load prohibitive on other machines?

Thanks.

The link you provided offers two choices - which would you take?  the swap or the clone via Firewire/target mode?

Why do you want to swap drives? If the MBP is brand new, the migration assistant will automatically copy your files and settings from the older computer.

Also, unless yours is one of the new MacBook Pros that came out a couple of weeks ago, it is not an easy job to get the hard drive out.

strung: depending on the drive swap time, I'd prefer a quick hardware solution.  Given the fact that the source machine has photos and music, plus a distrust of his mac's viability, I'm going to go with the migration assistant.
