HP Printer not compatible with Vista?

I have a client with an HP PSC 2400 Photosmart Serises All-in-One connected to a new computer running Win Vista.  It was printing fine for awhile and now will not print at all.  It is on and seems normal but will not print.  HP tech sup[port first told her that it is not compatible with Vista.  Then they told her it is and had her unplug it and uninstall and reinstall it and it still does not work.  I want to help her out BUT wanted to get a few suggestions from EE first.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. There are Vista drivers available for that series, so it is Vista compatible. I'd try the printer on another PC first, that way you'll find out if it is a hardware problem or not (I've seen a couple of HP All-in-ones break). If it works on that other PC, again uninstall it's software, usually there are 4 bat files in it's installation CD (usually in a CCC directory), which when run one after the other should completely uninstall the software (make sure the printer is off or not connected when running those). After a reboot install the software from the download and only connect the printer when the installer says so.

I suggest you to check first that the printer works, because I really have bad experiences wih HP printers. If you are sure that the printer works (by testing it on another PC) , uninstall the driver from "Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programms" , then choose all the HP printer drives you'll find from the list. Reboot your PC, don't turn your printer on and disconnect the cable if it was connected to the PC.
After rebooting, just go to this link http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=303753&
Choose the right choise, if it was Windows Vista 64 Bit , then choose that choise, else the "Windows Vista" (the first choise) , after choosing the right for your operating system, you can click on the link for your driver and download it, then install the driver and connect your printer when it asks you to connect.
Good luck.

Unfortunately, some models like this 2410 are not compatible. I tried but it isn't happening.  They will pick up a new printer at a cheap price.  Your answers were solid, so I thank you.
