asked on

uninstalling reporting services

Hi Folks,

If you have uninstalled a reporting instance is there any point to restoring the ReportServer Database once you have reinstalled the instance?

Why I am asking:

I uninstalled reporting services (as it would not start) aiming to reinstall. After reinstall and restore the dbs I had all sorts of problems.

It would not initialize unless I deleted unencrypted content.. so I did.

Then I got

An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. (rsInternalError)

didn't get much help on that one so I started playing around with the database (figured it was a database problem because when I create new reportserver db all is ok except everything is lost). In the Catalog when you delete rows of type 1 (I have been told they are to do with folders) I get a different error.

The item '/' cannot be found. (rsItemNotFound) Get Online Help

Does anyone have a clue what these errors are.. Is the issue that I need to restore the old folder structure of the reporting service instance?
