Microsoft Exchange Transport Server

I have just installed Windows Server std 2008, and then started to install Exchange 2007 onto a Standalone Server. As soon as I go to finalize the install I get a Exchange Transport Server error, when I check the Service as it needs to be running to finalize the installation, it just says Starting, but never starts, I have formatted and reinstalled this Server in the hope that it may have been a dodgy install, and this Service still wont start, meaning I am unable to finish the Exchange 2007 Server installation.

Any help would be great

Yes I am installing Exchange 2007 SP1
I have another couple of silly questions for you ..

1) is the computer part of a domain (I know it seems dumb but I am just checking)

2) the person you are logged in with is an administrator in the domain and also has enterprise admin rights?

Yes this is a Domain controller, and I am logging on as the administrator with all Admin rights Domain etc.

However in you second comment you said to ensure IPVer ^ is not disabled,. On the training course I did, they disabled it, so I did as well, I am about to renable it and will let you know.
Thanks for that, the training DVD I used was for 2003 Server and Exchange 2007, and they disabled IPv6. I have 3 more of these to do, you have made my job so much easier, as I have been stuck on this for a couple of days, and was about to log a call with MS.
My pleasure.. I am glad I was able to help you .. that is the great thing about this site.. we can all help each other..
